The Association of Tertiary Level Institutions in Belize (ATLIB) has as one of its main goals the promotion and development of member tertiary level educational institutions as strong partners in the development of Belize in collaboration with other public and private sector partners. To achieve this mandate the association is committed to providing guidelines and policies for member institutions to ensure minimum standards of quality for member programs and degrees. The association also seeks to foster the integration of sports as a method of friendly competition and interaction amongst its members. Finally the association also provides a common method for entry to member institutions through the management and deployment of a robust and reliable exam instrument. These form the basis of an association that is committed to providing its members and Belize with the necessary framework to ensure quality, relevance and sustainability of tertiary level institutions and academic programs.

As a assosiation, ATLIB is tasked with providing its members with effective capacity building opportunities to improve institutional strength by providing specific training to member institutions and their staff. This includes but is not limited to training relating to improving capacity in management, education, teaching and learning. It is believed that through these strengthening measures ATLIB can serve as a platform to normalize and maintain acceptable levels of standards and experiences for students across all its member institutions.
ATLIB also be lives in a holistic approach to education and provides avenues and sporting events for students to participate and engage in friendly competitions amongst its member institutions. These efforts serve to develop and promote important skills like sportsmanship and collaboration amongst students which are essential to making them effective members of society.
ATLIB is also an assessment entity that administers a national placement examination for tertiary instutions in Belize. This examination is administered to thousands of prospective junior college students annually. It serves as a method to assess skill level and determine basic competencies amongst the prospective students.
Members of ATLIB coordinate and collaborate within a synchronized and integrated agenda to share resources and capacity in order to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate academic programs within Belize. These members also compete together in friendly sporting competitions to ensure collegiality and promote the collaboration and sportsmanship amongst it members. All members are committed to the mission and vision of the association and are essential to accomplishing its mandate.
